Here at Gizi's Special Education Services Inc., we treat every individual the same no matter their age, background, disability, or ability. This is a safe place where we are one and where our hearts beat to ensure no differences exist.
We provide Adapted Physical Education (APE) & Therapeutic Services for ages 3-22+ older adults that are either in or not in a school setting. We work with individuals at all levels of physical abilities with or without disabilities. Specifically, we offer creative indoor/outdoor play activities, individual/group activities such as obstacle courses, stations, dancing, sports games, general physical education, therapeutic exercises and much more! GSES assists with working on IEP goals from schools in relation to APE needs which can include balance, gait work, bilateral coordination, and gross motor skills.
GSES travels to clinics, school facilities, parks, or anywhere near your home to meet your needs. These services may also include assessments, report writing, and attendance to IEP meetings. Our staff are trained to teach individuals virtually (online) as well to collaborate and ensure legal compliance with school districts, charter schools, and private schools.
Our philosophy is about getting our bodies to move and exercise no matter how that may look like. GSES mission is to ensure everyone has a fair, equal opportunity and education therefore, we are here to fill the gaps where there is a high need. We make sure this is possible through partnering with medical insurance, nonprofit organizations, nonpublic schools, and nonpublic agencies.
Please let us know how we can help make a difference for you today!
Gizi Merasi Malagon (Varady)
Gizi was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Her father's family is from Hungary while her mother's family is from Mexico. Gizi started this agency as a means to fill the gaps and provide APE services where there is a high need.
She was born with a congenital limb difference but kept pushing through the "norms" of society to get to where she is today. Gizi has been in the educational field since she was 16 years old as her mother and grandmother were educators for more than 25 years. She started as a volunteer, then worked her way up to become a certified APE specialist.
An interesting fact about Gizi is that she has 7 years experience in the legal field working to get care for victims of personal injuries at no fault of their own. She has assisted victims with employment matters such as discrimination against disabilities in the workplace or wrongful termination. Gizi has further worked to assist victims against evictions that are suffering from living in uninhabitable homes. She has a great passion to serve individuals with disabilities and works hard to be an advocate for those who are still finding their voice.
